No fewer than six operatives of the disbanded Eagle Crack team of the Rivers State Police have been arrested for allegedly extorting an undergraduate of the University of Port Harcourt of the sum of N150,000.

The policemen are currently undergoing interrogation at the State Criminal and Investigation Department of the State Police Command.

The victim, a final year student identified as Victor who saw one of the police officer’s mobile phone in his car confirmed the arrest to newsmen in Port Harcourt on Thursday.

But Victor expressed sadness that the Investigating Police Officer at the State CID was intimidating him and his friend over the statement made at the Police headquarters which the IPO alleged was not credible.

He, however, urged the Commissioner of Police, Eboka Friday to prevail on his men to diligently carry out the order he (CP) issued on the matter.

When contacted, a spokesman of the State Police Command, Nnamdi Omoni confirmed that the matter was at the SCID.

Meanwhile, Executive Director of a non–governmental organization, ‘We The People’, Ken Henshaw expressed disappointed that it was taking the Police more than a week to make public its investigations on the Eagle Crack operatives.

Henshaw told our correspondent that to gain the confidence of the public, the new CP should ensure the officers are prosecuted if found culpable of the crime.
