BUK Security Arrests Serial Car Thief, Now in Police Custody for Further Investigation

The security personnel in Bayero University have
arrested a serial car thief who specializes in the theft of
vehicles and other valuable items.
Ibrahim Muhammad was in 2019 arrested for trying to
steal a car belong to a BUK staff and upon interrogation,
he explained to have stolen a laptop and important
document. He was convicted for eight years in prison.
st On Thursday, 1 April, 2021, the said Mohammed was re￾arrested in Bayero University after a female car owner
raised the alarm that an intruder opened her car trying to
steal it. The thief tried to escape, but was overpowered by
people close-by who handed him over to the Security
personnel.
According to the Director of Security, Abdulyakin
Ibrahim, “the thief opened three cars in BUK today and
was unlucky to have been arrested in the third car. When
we interrogated him about how did he escape from prison
to come and repeat the theft, he confessed to have 
The Director told the Bulletin that the Security Division
has written a transfer letter to the Rijizar Zaki Police
Station for further investigation.
When asked on whether the same scenario that happened
two years ago should not repeat itself, the Director
expressed optimism that stringent measures have been
taken to forestall any re-occurrence of the incident,
assuring that his portrait has been captured and would be
distributed to security personnel for surveillance.
When interrogated, the suspect claimed to have
graduated from Electronics Engineering from University
of Maiduguri in 2017 and lives with his family in Farawa
Quarters of Kano Metropolitan. He said when he was
released from prison, he travelled to Abuja to live with a
relative and shortly after he returned, he came to Bayero
University to perpetrate the heinous crime.
