ASUP demands substantive rector for MAPOLY
The Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics, Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, Abeokuta, has asked the Ogun state Governor,Dapo Abiodun to approve a substantive rector for the institution .
The Chairman of ASUP MAPOLY branch, Chibuzor Osifalujo, said this on Monday while speaking with our Correspondent on the delay in choosing a substantive rector 10 months after screening.
He complained that the screening committee which had submitted its report to the governor presented three candidates to him.
He said lack of a rector in MAPOLY had slowed down the operation of the institution which was being managed by an acting rector .
He said, the “The thing is that they have done an interview for the prospective candidates for almost 10 months now, but the government has yet to announce any of them as the substantive Rector.
“The governor should just pronounce a substantive rector for MAPOLY since they have completed the process.
“They have suggested almost three names for the governor, to choose one is what we are awaiting for .”
He also said the lack of a rector had made it difficult for the institution to have a governing council.
The ASUP chairman also asked the governor to constitute the governing council for the institution.
He said “Yes, they are the highest organ of the institution so we are also requesting they give us a governing council to ensure the smooth running of the institution.”
