Kaduna Health Ministry Recommend Suspension of School Resumption
The Kaduna state ministry of health has recommended the suspension of school resumption until readiness assessments for covid 19 are conducted.
The State Commissioner of Health, Dr. Amina Mohammed Baloni made the recommendation in an official document no: MOH/ADM/14, dated 21st January, 2021 which was sited by The Abusites.
According to the commissioner, findings by the Infection Prevention and Control team earlier set up to review guidelines for the resumption of schools which proposed the dates of 21″ or 25th January 2021 to open schools across the state revealed that compliance to the Guidelines was below average in the schools visited.
The letter reads, “You may wish to recall that during the stakeholders meeting on Monday the 18th of January 2021, a committee set up to review guidelines for the resumption of schools proposed the dates of 21” or 25th January 2021 to open schools across the state.
“The Ministry of Health kindly recommends that you suspend these dates pending the conduct of a readiness assessment in a sample of schools across the State.
“You may wish to recall the findings by the Infection Prevention and Control team presented at the meeting revealed compliance to the guidelines was below average in the schools visited.
The honorable commissioner seeks the support of all stakeholders to help curtail the spread of COVID 19 in Kaduna State.
